Becoming the large trade-handicraft centres and important trade points of Eurasia on the trade route from China and Mongolia into Eastern Europe, Samarkand, Bukhara and Khorezm were united with the common cultural development.
Khudabend Uldjeyt ordered to measure the trade route from Sultania (founded in 1306) to Urgench (Bartold, 1965. p. 263).
After establishment of the centralised state Amir Timur worked hard to provide conditions for development of commerce, set up control of the trade routes with East and West.
As a result, the trade routes were revived via Khorezm in the Lower Volga, along which goods were transited and the cultural links were maintained.
